It takes a team of people days to go from a stack of steel to this finished ring, and it is beautiful! I cannot stress highly enough just how astonishingly difficult this particular material is to work with, often taking 3-4 times as long to produce a finished ring as it's carbon/carbon damascus counterpart. It requires extremely large hammers (16lbs) and eats up every tool that tries to touch it, but the end result is absolutely awesome! 
All done by hand, forged from a single block of steel, this ring contains no seams. It's not made on a CNC lathe, wire EDM or automated like most damascus rings, this one's built with hammers, an impractically small manual lathe, and ingenuity.
A large block of damascus (which we made!) is cut down to a ring blank, and a small hole drilled into the center of that. A custom made tapered rod of tool steel is then driven through the hole over several heating cycles to spread the ring to size, giving the desired deformation and continuity in the pattern of the ring. Once forged to size, it's chiseled and hammered to shape, lathed to perfection,  then hand sanded to a finished product. A liner of sterling silver is then meticulously built to fit precisely inside the damascus ring and hammered into place. The whole product is then acid etched to eat away at one material while leaving the other, before being sanded up to 1500gritt and polished by hand! These rings are then hardened and tempered, producing a product with astonishing strength and resilience.

 This ring is built with passion, by men with facial hair dressed in flannel. It's made using hammers, fueled by red meat and classic rock music, and the result is a truly beautiful piece of jewelry! Like my item but it's not the right size or style for you?
