THIS IS A PILOT CLASS.
Meaning, we’re finalizing some details. We’re not confident in what the final pricing for this class will be, or the final options. It’s possible you make a knife in this class with options that will change over time, but we’re giving you a deal from our planned price, and planning for smaller class sizes and more flexible timelines. This class is designed as a 4 hour class, but please- plan for it to go over by up to one hour beyond scheduled. It’s just too early to tell if we’ll consistently be at 4 hours.
We’ve been secretly running this class with friends and private groups, and we’re excited to have you come in as one of the first students ever, helping us work out some details!

NO PREREQUISITE!!!!!!

More details, photos, etc coming soon. Work in progress!
Seriously- these photos suck, I know that, i’m working on it.

For now, this class is being kept as a 2 student class with no prerequisite, priced at $350 per person.
For now, we’re also limiting a few potential future options- so the knife you’ll be making will be the knife we’ve settled upon as the most consistent, affordable, attractive, and useful option we’ve experimented with- a 1095 Carbon steel blade, Oak Handle with Brass pins, and a slick colored “liner”.
In the future we may have various steel options including stainless steel options, and a variety of handle options.

Our newest Class!
We’ve been hard at work developing an AWESOME Chef Knife class! The goal of this class is to send you home with a very functional chef knife that you’ll keep and use for years and years, with the pride of knowing you produced it! Not only will it you have an awesome knife, our goal is to make that knife for about what we’d sell this exact knife for, and you’ll have the new skills and knowledge necessary to sharpen and care for it for all time to come.
These knives hold a very very good edge, professionally heat treated 1095 is far superior to most of the low to mid grade stainless kitchen knives we all have in our house, but is not a stainless steel and should be cared for accordingly.

This class is a “stock removal” knife making class- a popular alternative to forging!
In this class, we begin with a laser cut precision knife blank that’s already been professionally heat treated, we’ve got not forging to do at all. Our day starts with a nice, knife shaped object, and we’re going to spend our time on grinders instead of anvils. We’ll be learning to put a handle on including: Material selection, processing, riveting pins, profiling, and sculpting to the shape of your hand. We then put the time into cutting, beveling, and sharpening the blade, meticulously refining the geometry until it’s absolutely delightfully sharp.
We’ll go over equipment and what you need to start doing this at home, including showcasing three different “Tiers” of Grinders and allowing you to try out a bunch of different equipment before being sent home with a laundry list of tips, special discount codes for equipment and supplies, and most importantly- the best knife in your kitchen!
Taught by our expert knife making instructor, famous from “Forged In Fire”, mr Andy Alm of Andy Alm Custom Knives. With 20 years of experience and a long teaching career, he’s THE guy in Pittsburgh to learn to make a knife from!
